Aerosonde COCO Fleet

The Aerosonde Mk. 4.7 UAS contractor owned, contractor operated (COCO) fleet is a leading example of real‑world adaptability. With more than 40 integrated payloads and mission configurations that shift site‑to‑site and flight‑to‑flight, Aerosonde routinely supports multiple simultaneous mission sets. The fleet’s open architecture enables rapid technology refresh, obsolescence mitigation and continuous capability upgrades—benefits further amplified by Textron Systems’ ownership of the full lifecycle.

This adaptability enables global operations while ensuring customers receive maximum mission flexibility without sacrificing availability or sustainment.

This approach combined with collaboration with industry leading technology partners transformed our RIPSAW® M3 platform into an autonomous self-driving system, combining the power of human-driving with advanced safety awareness. These advancements allow the warfighter to remain out of harm’s way and remain focused on mission critical tasks in high stakes environments.

Scaling to Meet Emerging Mission Requirements

Mission adaptability also requires the ability to scale production and deploy new capabilities rapidly. The TSUNAMI USV represents this approach, combining proven maritime uncrewed systems experience with the strength and speed of the commercial industrial base. Designed for a variety of mission sets ranging from counter-narcotics to search-and-rescue operations, the TSUNAMI USV modularity allows operators to rapidly outfit each craft with payloads in support of maritime missions across the globe and integrate seamlessly with domestic and allied nations.

TSUNAMI USV demonstrated these capabilities at the annual NATO Robotic Experimentation and Prototyping with Maritime Unmanned Systems (REPMUS) exercise, where the craft operated off the coast of Portugal alongside allied naval forces. The innovative MOSA-enabled platform seamlessly integrated into the operations demonstrating the advanced tracking and command-and-control capabilities USVs can provide to the Fleet, enhancing sailor safety and increasing resources across maritime missions.

This integration of military technology with scalable production capacity results in unmatched affordability and responsiveness—exactly what is needed to meet growing demand for distributed maritime presence and persistent sensing.

Enabling Multi‑Domain Collaboration

Textron Systems continues to look ahead, remaining committed to developing solutions in support of both missions today and the operations of tomorrow. Future operations are inherently multi‑domain and Textron Systems is already delivering platforms designed to collaborate across air, ground and maritime environments.

During the U.S. Navy’s Fleet Exercise (FLEX), the Aerosonde UAS and TSUNAMI USV operated together to demonstrate synchronized maritime and aerial mission capability. With the Aerosonde UAS providing targeting and tracking capabilities, the integrated command-and-control network was able to relay high value sensor data to the TSUNAMI USV to ensure a successful target strike. This advanced communication removes humans from harm’s way throughout the lifecycle of the sensor-to-shooter kill chain while simultaneously increasing battlefield mobility as operators remain on land or at sea. Their ability to share mission data and execute complementary tasks highlighted the value of adaptable platforms in multi‑domain operations.

In a separate event with Headquarters Marine Corps, Aerosonde integrated seamlessly with the Cottonmouth ARV in an on‑the‑move configuration. The Aerosonde UAS operated beyond line-of-sight flight operations providing targeting and tracking data to operators who remained safely inside the ARV. Operators were also able to successfully land the Aerosonde UAS autonomously all from the safety and confines of the vehicle. This demonstration highlights the added value integrating interfaces across platforms and domains adds to increase warfighter safety as well as improved mission agility. The advanced connection of sensors, autonomy, and decision‑making tools across air‑ground domains supports the flexibility needed to remain adaptable as operations and missions change.
