Earlier this year, Textron Systems’ Veterans Network Employee Resource Group hosted a raffle at our facilities in Slidell, Louisiana. By purchasing a ticket, employees could enter for a chance to be randomly selected to highlight a military hero through the local Hometown Heroes Banner Program. Five heroes were selected.

Meet Ruben Hernandez! He is one of the production supervisors for Land Systems in Slidell, Louisiana. For 11 and a half years, Ruben has worked on a great deal of our products, most notably, the Ripsaw® M5 robotic vehicle, the Cottonmouth™ amphibious vehicle and the reset and spares programs for all our Commando® vehicles. Ruben is from Covington, Louisiana, and is currently working on the Cottonmouth prototype build that will be sent to our customer for test and evaluation this year.

In late May, Textron Systems supported the U.S. Army at the Experimental Demonstration Gateway Exercise 2022 (EDGE 22), a risk mitigation event focused on assessing new tactics and evaluating new technologies and architectures. EDGE 22 is held in advance of the annual Project Convergence event, a sensor-to-shooter experiment focused on testing multi-domain operation capabilities and enhanced sustainment, held later this year.

HUNT VALLEY, MD/June 2, 2022 – Textron Systems Corporation, a Textron Inc. (NYSE:TXT) company, announced today that it has been awarded a contract valued up to $18.3 million including all options by the U.S. Navy’s Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) to provide continued UAS operations support for the USS Hershel “Woody” Williams, designated ESB-4. The one-year base contract includes two 12-month options and two six-month options, for a total potential performance period of four years. The company was originally selected to support the ESB-4 in 2018.

HUNT VALLEY, MD/ April 4, 2022 – Textron Systems Corporation, a Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) company, announced today the successful first flight and maritime integration of the Aerosonde® Small Unmanned Aircraft System (SUAS) on a U.S. Navy Guided Missile Destroyer (DDG). The integration follows a September 2021 award by the U.S. Navy of a multi-year Aerosonde task order for maritime intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) services aboard two DDGs. The success of this first flight emphasizes the system’s ability to offer a mature, reliable aircraft to support the types of ship-based missions being performed now, all within a small aviation footprint in a higher sea state environment.
