Textron Systems Delivers Advanced Reconnaissance Vehicle (ARV) Systems Integration Lab (SIL) To U.S. Marine Corps
SLIDELL, La., August 5, 2025 – Textron Systems Corporation, a Textron Inc. (NYSE:TXT) company, announced today that it completed delivery in May of its second Systems Integration Lab (SIL) for the Advanced Reconnaissance Vehicle (ARV) program to the U.S. Marine Corps. The SIL is designed to replicate the interior of the C4UAS Cottonmouth® vehicle, maturing and modernizing the vehicle electronics development with a focus on Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA). The updated SIL includes an architecture that is Ground Vehicle Operating System (GVOS) based with Tactical Assault Kit Extended (TAK-X) framework for easy capabilities integration.
Concurrent with the delivery, Textron Systems completed a demonstration of the SIL to U.S. Government attendees. In October 2024, during the SIL critical design review (CDR), Textron Systems performed a live demonstration of upgraded vehicle electronics, showcasing the enhanced capabilities of the Cottonmouth ARV. In 2025, Textron Systems will also deliver an ARV-30mm prototype to the USMC for testing and evaluation.
The purpose-built Cottonmouth ARV is designed to enhance the fleet’s ability to perform reconnaissance missions, with improved mobility, survivability and mission packages for the Mobile Reconnaissance Battalion (MRB). The MOSA approach to the vehicle electronics allow ease of integration of multiple capabilities, both contractor or government provided, enhancing growth and future system modifications for emerging USMC requirements.
“The ARV’s advanced mobility, MOSA design and enhanced reconnaissance capability will be revolutionary for the MRBs,” said David Phillips, Senior Vice President Air, Land and Sea Systems. “The upgraded SIL is another key component in supporting the USMC’s ARV mission, and we look forward to getting it in the hands of ARV operators to train and simulate real-world environments.”
Textron Systems has built thousands of ground vehicles in Slidell, LA over the last several decades for a variety of customers. Built from a clean-sheet design, the Cottonmouth vehicle is a 6x6 wheeled amphibious reconnaissance vehicle designed to operate within the Marine Corps’ Expeditionary Advanced Base Operations (EABO) construct.
