Morgan Burch Honored for Community Support

April 27, 2018

Principal Infrastructure Engineer Morgan Burch of the Sterling, Va., Electronic Systems site shared a poignant childhood memory at the Annual Awards Banquet. This event, held each year by the Hunt Valley-based Textron Systems businesses, honors teams and individuals for a variety of extraordinary achievements, and Morgan’s story as Volunteer of the Year brought the room to a standstill.

He recalls that, as a small child, a stranger took the time and devoted the resources to provide his family with a complete, all-the-fixings Thanksgiving meal when they could not afford one on their own. This act of generosity informed his world view from then on, and he and his wife have since made serving the community a cornerstone of their family life.

When the time came for entries for the annual Volunteer of the Year award, Morgan’s name immediately came to the mind of his nominator, Senior Vice President Daryl Madden.

He was recognized at the ceremony for his service as a member of the Fredericksburg Area Metropolitan Planning Organization, Citizens Transportation Advisory Group, Stafford Food Security and Cooking Autism. Morgan serves the community by collecting donations, representing his home district on key issues, providing food to those in need and teaching children with autism how to cook.

“The wonderful organizations we’re involved in are comprised of many great people,” said Morgan. “We are servants to these groups, just like the others are. I’m in no way the primary catalyst or main contributor of any of these groups, but am happy and blessed to be able to be involved.”

Morgan and his family’s support is a constant beacon to all of these groups. Thanks to Morgan and the Burch family for all they do to improve the lives of those around them, and congratulations to him and all the individuals and teams who were recognized for their incredible achievements at the recent Hunt Valley Annual Awards Banquet.
