Charlie's Story: Personal Development at Howe & Howe

April 23, 2026

Howe & Howe, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Textron Systems Corporation, is known for their innovative technologies, quickly became a powerful force in both the civil and defense industries with products like the Thermite® firefighting robot, Swat-Bot™ and the Advanced Capability Enhanced System (ACES) uncrewed ground vehicle, among others.

For Charlie, a senior fabricator and assembler at Howe & Howe, his time with the team has been nothing short of action-packed, serving as a pivotal catalyst for his personal and professional growth. First joining the team in 2023 as a fabricator and assembler, later moving into a senior position, his current day-to-day responsibilities include field service duties, performing maintenance on all products located at the Waterboro, Maine facility.

He says this provides him the opportunity to become an expert in Howe & Howe’s products to make a stronger impact on the company using his gained expertise. “With my goal of first-time quality, I strive to assemble or fabricate parts once, saving time and cost,” says Charlie.

Not only is the on-the-job experience helping him grow his skillset, he says his colleagues are also helping him improve. “What I like most about working at Howe & Howe is the group of individuals that have gravitated here; they are the most eclectically knowledgeable individuals I’ve ever had the pleasure of working besides,” he says. “We all can share and learn from each other. We come together to produce the most elite products of their kind in the world.”

Charlie says his time at Howe & Howe thus far has given him the freedom, support and resources to learn, all while his teammates encourage him to stay true to himself. Now, he’s looking ahead to what’s next, saying, “Recently, I inquired about obtaining a degree in Software Engineering, and not only are the resources available to me, but the support of my leadership to achieve that goal has been steadfast.”

For others looking to follow in his footsteps, he says to never doubt your ability before you try. “To others striving to not only excel, but to grow their career, I’d say your only limitation is yourself, don’t be afraid to chase your dreams and strive for excellence.”

As Charlie prepares to celebrate three years at Howe & Howe, he says he wishes he had started his journey earlier. “Knowing now all the incredible things I get to be a part of, I wish I’d have applied sooner.”
