About This Role
Textron Systems Wilmington, MA is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to lead and optimize operations within our machine shop, ensuring efficient production of core competency precision aerospace and defense components. This individual will oversee tooling management, support machinists and design engineers in manufacturability reviews, and drive continuous improvement in machining processes and workflow. The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer with a strong understanding of machining operations, tooling compliance, and production optimization in a high-reliability manufacturing environment.
Job Responsibilities:
• Serve as the primary engineering interface for the machine shop: Support both prototype and full-rate production programs.
• Collaborate with machinists and design engineers: Review engineering drawings, assess manufacturability, and develop accurate costs and time
estimates.
• Conduct capacity and utilization analysis: Identify opportunities for improved throughput and efficiency.
• Evaluate the life cycle and performance of machining. equipment: Recommend future capital investments and capability studies of current equipment.
• Solumina Job tracking: Lead integration of Solumina (MES) to monitor and improve machine shop performance metrics.
• Streamline work order flow: Resource load personnel and equipment to ensure alignment with production and Factory Manager priorities.
• Manage & maintain compliance with all tooling manuals and contractual tooling requirements: Ensure traceability and readiness to support production.
• Support development of machining processes for metal and exotic material components: Optimize traditional lathes, mills, and 3-5 axis CNC machining centers.
About This Role
Textron Systems is seeking an experienced Senior Manufacturing Engineer or Electrical/Mechanical Engineer focused on Design for Manufacturing and Assembly and product transition to production within the development phase of the product life cycle to join our team. This individual will be responsible for providing manufacturing engineering input to support new product development, and to optimize design for manufacturability, design for assembly, design to cost, and transition to production. This individual will work alongside the design engineering team during the preliminary development phases of emerging programs to analyze and improve manufacturing cost, quality, and DFX. Responsibilities will also include other upstream activities such as capital equipment, facility requirements, existing and emerging manufacturing technologies, tool design, cost estimating, and configuration control. This individual will work closely with Design Engineering, Engineering Prototype Technicians, Manufacturing Engineers, Machinists, and Assembly Technicians to complete initial prototype builds, analyze results, and refine engineering designs.
Our Manufacturing Engineering team is focused on developing and improving new product designs to incorporate all necessary cost, quality, and DFX improvements to support advanced emerging programs for military, government, and commercial customers.
Job Responsibilities:
• Provide manufacturing engineering input to support new product development, from initial conceptual design to the transition-to-production phase.
• Perform design for manufacturability, design for assembly, and design to cost analyses during the preliminary development phase of emerging programs and drive changes early in product development to improve manufacturability
• Collaborate with Design Engineering, Engineering Prototype Technicians, Machinists, Assembly Technicians, and other Manufacturing Engineers to provide a clear line of communication between design and manufacturing.
• Participate in tabletop design reviews and formal CCB reviews.
• Perform make/buy analyses for new designs.
• Collaborate with suppliers for outsourcing activities.
• Determine necessary capital equipment, facility requirements, manufacturing technologies, and other manufacturing requirements for emerging programs.
• Develop manufacturing processes, procedures, tool designs, production layouts, cost estimates, and configuration control methods for efficient manufacturing of new products.
• Identify emerging manufacturing technologies and perform cost/benefit analysis for implementation.
• Develop factory floorplans and machine arrangements with facilities to ensure efficient and productive manufacturing flow.
• Develop detailed manufacturing process documents.
• Develop detailed production plans to support new products.
• Maintain a positive attitude while interacting with a diverse and multi-functional workforce.
• Knowledge of and demonstrated implementation of lean practices
• Demonstrated ability to evaluate multiple lean production layouts and material flows and select the optimal layout
• Manufacturing specific computer skills: ERP and MRP (e.g. Oracle); PLM (e.g. Matrix); MES (e.g. Solumina) or equivalent
• Experience with CAD software (UG NX 10+).
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, with proficiency in MS Office tools of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio and Outlook
• Knowledge and/or expertise in several manufacturing technologies/methods to include, but not limited to the following:
• Electrical and/or Mechanical Systems – New Product Introduction including fixture design, prove out, development of manufacturing processes, tool integration, equipment, and product verification.
• Knowledge of DFX principles, specifically: Manufacturability, Assembly, Testability, Reliability, Cost and Quality.
• Strong knowledge of GD&T and appropriate tolerance methodology with Model Based Definition files in a manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of machining best practices
• Knowledge of J-STD-001 and IPC-610 is a plus
• Support and/or lead efforts with internal and external suppliers to address manufacturability improvements and resolve issues.

Responsibilities:

About This Role
A Welding Engineer III develops, manages, recommends, and coordinates the implementation of a sound welding program and processes through improved weld processes, design specification review, techniques, inspections, and safety procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Establish and document welding processes in accordance with national and military standards and/or specifications.
- Review welding procedures, processes, and documentation.
- Develops and executes weld qualification procedures.
- Creates, submits, and manages Welding Procedure Specification (WPS) documents.
- Works with management to identify problems and recommend resolutions of welding processes, issues and concerns.
- Directly interface with the product design engineering team to ensure design for process and manufacturing requirements are addressed and met.
- Assist and support manufacturing, other support groups, and training center as it relates to weld processes, weld related defects (to include the assistance with repair/rework dispositions to address defects), weld sequencing, and any other weld related needs.
- Keep abreast of state-of-the-art welding technologies and safety procedures used throughout the industry.

The Manufacturing Master Scheduler, reporting directly to the Director of Operations. The scheduler will assist in all capacities to maintain supply/demand balance relative to labor capacity, externally supplied material lead times and ensure on time delivery to the customer need. Translate program demand plans into ERP system forecasts and then, upon project funding, release executable demand and drive schedule fidelity through to customer delivery. The preferred candidate will be an individual with bias for action, strategic thinking, data analysis, problem solving, exceptional customer focus, communications, and a sound foundation in Material Planning and Production Control practices.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Create program specific forecasts in the Oracle ERP system and support proposal activities by providing scheduling and lead time analysis
Review MRP output of time phased requirements, compare against total shop load and standard lead times, adjust forecast as necessary to avoid overloading/constraining work centers or compressing material procurement
Communicate need dates for funding/demand release along with schedule commitments back to the program
Convert forecast to released system demand upon program authorization
Identify supply/demand imbalances and resolve them through collaboration with ISC cross-functional team
