About This Role

A Manufacturing Engineer supports design, analysis, test and production operations for marine vessels. The ideal candidate should have a passion for manufacturing accompanied with exceptional communication skills, great attitude, be a result-oriented team player, and a great problem-solver.
Responsibilities:
• Collaborates with Engineering on desired production tooling and build-plan methodology and gives input/feedback on associated design criteria; analyzes engineering design to determine manufacturability of components and assemblies
• Guide and determine manufacturing processes, tooling methodology, discrete manufacturing operations and associated time standards to be used to produce new parts/assemblies from detail component fabrication thru job-level installation; authors and maintains process plans for shop floor methods/work instructions
• Develops learning curve and actual hour projections for new program production incorporation; analyzes actual performance and makes necessary process improvement recommendations
• Oversee process to create manufacturing Bill of Material (MBOM) to break engineering product structure into logical manufacturing methodology and sequence to enable MRP processes for order release, scheduling, and purchased component sourcing activities
• Provides technical guidance to initiate and drive Root Cause / Corrective Action (RCCA) on production issues related to engineering design, material, tooling, specifications and processes
• Analyzes/Interprets engineering drawing, manufacturing operation sequence, tooling function, and process specifications
• Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations.
• Performs other duties as assigned by management

About This Role
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Support manufacturing engineering with ongoing or new projects.
- CNC machining responsibilities including specifying tooling, overseeing tool design activities related to CNC programming, tool offsets, feeds/speeds, and tool/fixture/gage designs.
- Implement cost reduction by working closely with engineering, manufacturing and other disciplines to reduce scrap and waste, and evaluate/improve assembly and manufacturing methods
- Assist in equipment validation.
- Maintain records and schedules of work assigned.
- Perform process validation and machine capability studies.
Position Summary:
Associate Manufacturing engineering is a creative activity. About This Role
This entry level position develops and coordinates with Manufacturing the strategies and plans that improve productivity. Under Management supervision, implements practices and designs to reduce operating expenses, reduce work in progress, and increase production.
Job Responsibilities:
- Learn to summarize, by significant categories, issue that affected manufacturing activity to Production supervisor(s).
- Learn to develop crew load/shop load plans and reports.
- Learn to generate accurate time value standards in appropriate electronic systems such as PlantSim, Datanomix, etc.
- Learn to provide schedule variance figures to manufacturing and assist in Performance reports (weekly) explanations.
- Learn to implement cost reduction ideas (Method Improvements).
- Learn to provide Weekly Activity reports.
- Ensure visual factory information is always current.
- Using 2D and 3D CAD software to design components related to facilities, material handling, safety, etc.
- Maintain a facility layout change management system.
- 3D rendering of the facility.
- Time standards applications in Oracle
- Schedule and cost analysis
- Manpower justification
- Value Stream Mapping

About This Role
We believe people should love what they do – in this role, you will be responsible for:
- Utilize GTAW (Gas Tungsten Arc Welding) methods to weld tubing components with exceptional precision.
- Comprehensive knowledge of tubing materials and their respective welding characteristics.
- Welding of aluminum, Stainless, Inconel tubing in all positions. Must be able to work from standing, sitting, lying and kneeling positions.
- Some work must be accomplished with the use of mirror welding.
- Climbing on and over bulkheads, up and down ladders.
- Tack welding (kneeling, standing, sitting, lying, overhead burning of steel, dragging torch line)
- Use of jacks, porta-powers and come-a longs; some of which can weigh as much as 25 lbs.
- Lifting of material and tools (jacks, porta-powers, come-a longs, etc. Also loading and unloading of parts.
- Crawling through craft on top of tees and through manholes
- Bending and twisting of your body as needed to get into different compartments.
- Operation of cranes, forklifts
- Use of power tools (gougers, skill saws, cut saws, grinders). All require two hands on tools to operate in safe manner
- Walking on tops of frames and tees (uneven walking surfaces)
- Need to be able to work with your hands
JOB SCOPE:
- Perform all operations within continuous flow-manufacturing cell, utilizing the skills and ability to perform basic adjustments and run all machines, as well as test equipment including burring within the cell, past washing, etching, and utilization of basic gauging/measuring tools. Assist Tool Design, as needed, in new fixture, program readouts, and setup during the period of operation for required quality of parts.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform assigned work in a safely conscious manner.
- Perform assigned work to specify quality and production standards.
- Maintain equipment and tools used by the individual in a clean condition.
- Perform assigned cleaning required to maintain individual’s immediate work area in a clean condition.
- Prepare and/or maintain all documentation necessary to the duties of the job classification.
- Perform other duties inherently required of the job classification.
- Perform basic adjustments and cooperate machining centers and related equipment to produce product within specified Company processes and procedures.
- To communicate on a timely basis to all relevant personnel any issues found during the daily processing of product and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

- Work with others across payrolls, functions, and shifts to solve problems in a timely manner.

- Assists in developing plant Lean competencies including Value Stream Mapping, 5S, Visual Controls, Materials / Tools at Point-of-Use, SMED (setup reduction), Flow, Kanban, Cell Layout, Waste Reduction, supplier interface and development.

Supervise bargained personnel to insure efficient manpower utilization and assist with planning

Proactively participate in cross-functional efforts and teams to support Lycoming Premier initiatives

Responsible for the training and development of all bargaining unit personnel

Administer the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and collaborate with union leaders in the resolution of shop issues
