
Melanie Smith serves as Vice President and Chief Information Officer at Textron Systems and is a member of the company’s Executive Leadership Team. In this role, she leads the development and execution of a high-performance information technology (IT) and digital strategy aligned with the organization’s corporate vision. She also oversees the day-to-day operations of the company’s information systems.
Previously, Smith held the position of Executive Director of Enterprise Solutions and IT Strategy at Textron Inc. There, she was responsible for driving enterprise-wide functional technology strategies, enhancing partnerships with key strategic software providers, and managing technical support services for the corporate office, Financial Shared Services Center (FSSC), Textron Financial Corporation (TFC), and Textron India Pvt Ltd (TIPL).
Before joining Textron, Smith served as the Business Relationship Manager for Finance at Energizer Battery in St. Louis, Missouri. In this capacity, she acted as a strategic liaison between the finance and IT functions, ensuring alignment between financial initiatives and technology investments to maximize return on investment and support broader business objectives.
Smith began her career at Textron Systems in 2013 as a Business Intelligence Manager and progressed through roles of increasing responsibility, including Director of Information Technology. In that role, she led support for enterprise resource planning (ERP), manufacturing, engineering, and customer relationship management (CRM) platforms.
She holds a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy from the University of Illinois and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) as well as a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA).
