John Elligson, IV is the Senior Vice President and General Counsel of Textron Systems, as well as a member of the Executive Leadership Team. In this role, he leads a highly skilled team of professionals responsible for all facets of Textron Systems’ legal, contracts, compliance, and security functions. Elligson was appointed to this role in May 2023 after serving as the Deputy General Counsel for the three preceding years in Hunt Valley, MD.
Prior to that, he was the General Counsel of TRU Simulation + Training in Goose Creek, SC. Elligson originally joined Textron Systems in 2009 and, prior to TRU, worked in a variety of legal, finance, contracts, and procurement roles of increasing scope and responsibility. Before joining Textron Systems, he worked for a large accounting firm providing advice on complex commercial transactions and at a boutique law firm specializing in sophisticated tax planning strategies.
Elligson holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance from the University of Baltimore, as well as a Master of Business Administration and a Juris Doctor from the University of Baltimore. He has also completed Textron’s Executive Leadership Program at the University of North Carolina Kenan-Flagler Business School.
