Lycoming Foundry and Machine Company is founded and focused on the design and manufacturing of engines

1923

Textron Inc. is founded 

1929

Avco Corporation is founded

1935

Lycoming joins Avco as a subsidiary

1950

AAI Corporation is founded 

1950s

Avco enters defense industry

1955

Avco Research and Advanced Development is founded

1960

Textron acquires Bell Aerospace and subsidiaries 

1969

Bell Aerospace starts operations in New Orleans, La.

1985

Textron acquires Avco, including Avco's Defense Systems and Lycoming Engine divisions

1985

Avco Systems Textron becomes Textron Defense Systems 

1986

Bell Aerospace's New Orleans operations become Textron Marine Systems

1986

Textron acquires Ex-Cell-O Corporation, including its Cadillac Gage subsidiary

1987

Avco Defense Systems Division of Avco Corporation becomes Textron Defense Systems Division

1994

Textron Marine Systems and the Combat Vehicle Operations of Cadillac Gage become Textron Marine & Land Systems

1996

Textron Systems Corporation is created, consisting of what is now Textron Defense Systems

2000

Textron Marine & Land Systems becomes a Textron Systems Company

2006

Lycoming Engines becomes a Textron Systems Company

2006

Textron acquires Overwatch, a leading provider of multi-source intelligence analysis tools, and Overwatch becomes a Textron Systems Company

2007

Textron acquires AAI Corporation, a leader in unmanned systems technology, and AAI becomes a Textron Systems Company

2010

Textron Systems Corporation acquires MillenWorks as a strategic business of Textron Marine & Land Systems, and acquires the Crane Wireless Monitoring Solutions (WMS) sensor business to become part of the intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance product offerings of Textron Defense Systems

2011

AAI Corporation separates into three operating units within Textron Systems - AAI Logistics & Technical Services, AAI Test & Training, and AAI Unmanned Aircraft Systems

2011

Textron Systems Canada is opened in Ottawa, to offer the broad capabilities of Textron Systems' operating units to Canadian customers.
